How to Get Your ATV Ready for Summer
The spring storms have finally subsided, and the sun is shining! It is finally time to get that ATV out of the garage! As much fun as you are about to have, there just a few things you need to do to get your ATV ready for the summer. Start with a good clean! If it has been in storage for months, cleaning it off will help you better assess anything else that needs to be done. Here are a few things you should check as you are preparing to ride your ATV this season:
Summer Ready ATV Checklist
Oil Change
This may seem like a no-brainer to some, but it is so important that you get an oil change when you are de-winterizing your ATV. Make sure to check your owner’s manual to see what kind of oil your specific ATV takes. This will also give you information about specific filters that you can use.
Check Battery
Does your ATV have a battery? Have you been charging it off and on throughout the winter/spring? Make sure that you charge the battery up so it is good to go for your first ride. If there is a chance your battery shows any wear or tear, consider getting a new battery for the season.
Tire Pressure
Having a flat tire on an ATV can be both frustrating and dangerous. If you are going through the mud, or over rough plains, and a tire gives out, you may be in serious trouble. We recommend checking the tire pressure for all your tires and making sure there are no leaks or holes.
Check Brakes
The last thing you want to find out when riding your ATV is that your brakes are bad. If your brakes go out on your ATV, there is a very high chance for injury to you and harm of your vehicle. Check the brakes and brake pads and make sure they work well before taking it out on the road.
Look Over Exterior
Just take a glance over the entire exterior. Look for cracks, holes, or anything broken. You will want your ATV to be repaired or fixed when you start planning to take it out next.
These are some key things that you need to do to get ready for summer. Some of them may seem tedious, but if you have a long summer of riding ahead you will want to make sure it is in top notch condition. If you have any questions or concerns about your ATV, give us a call and have our technicians look over it to see any additional issues.
