Ah Fall, that wonderful time of the year when the air starts to crisp, the leaves begin to change and the aroma of pumpkin and apple seems to fill the air everywhere you go. There is something so magical about Fall and all its beauty. In Minnesota, Fall is everywhere! There is something to do every day of the week and each and every weekend. Up in our neck of the woods, we celebrate Fall with time honored traditions, apple picking, Harvest Festivals, and so much more.

Pumpkin Patch Pickin’

Minnesota boasts a whole heap of pumpkin patches during the Fall. So no matter if you want to make spooky Jack-o-lanterns, bake some pumpkin seeds, or check out some of the many activities that pumpkin patches have to offer (corn mazes, rides, petting zoos and more!) , there is a patch for you.  Every year, Minnesota Grown puts out a directory of about 140 patches from across the state.

Get Stomping

Minnesota is home to a number of beautiful vineyards and wineries. The Saint Croix Vineyard is host to the Grape Stomp Festival every Fall, featuring live music, grape-stomping contests, and tours of the grounds. So if you are a connoisseur of good wine, check out Saint Croix, or one of the other stunning vineyards this Fall.

Get Crafty

Maybe wine isn’t your beverage of choice, and that’s okay. Did you know Minnesota is home to roughly 112 different local breweries? Fall is the perfect time to check them out too because most will do special Oktoberfest brews along with a plethora of seasonal offerings. You can check out this Land of 10,000 Drinks map to plan your Minnesota Fall “brewcation” today.

Jam Out

The music scene is alive and well in Minnesota, and during the Fall months, the festivals are in full swing! No matter what your musical taste, they have a festival for you. The Prairie Burn Music Festival is a kid and family-friendly festival which benefits the local YMCA Greater Twin Cities Camps. Here you will hear folk and bluegrass while making s’mores and joining in on hayrides.

Get Your Camp On

Minnesota in the Fall is simply beautiful. The colors and smells are things dreams are made of, and it is wonderful to spend as much time outside this time of the year as possible. With a massive number of parks and outdoor areas to camp, you would be crazy to pass up on a trip! Jay Cooke State Park is a favorite, and boasts some really wonderful cabins so you don’t have to tent camp!

Join The Harvest

Pumpkins, Corn Mazes, and Scare Crows oh my! Fall in Minnesota is incomplete without going to at least one of the many harvest festivals around the state. One of the largest is the SeptOberfest in Wabasha, which runs from September through October and features a wide array of events including a pumpkin derby, German heritage, topiaries, and more!

If that wasn’t enough, you can check out this entire list of Fall Activities and Festivals in the Minneapolis area. With everything from Halloween events for kids and adult-only Haunted Houses, they truly have something for everyone.
