Celebrating Thanksgiving The Minnesota Way!
With October at a close it is time to celebrate that most festive of Holidays….no, not Christmas… Here in Minnesota we take Thanksgiving very seriously, so no skipping from Halloween to Christmas up here. From the turkey to the football and the festive weekend activities, it is time you see how we celebrate Thanksgiving, the Minnesota Way!
It Is A Family Affair
Minnesota natives love any excuse to get together with family and friends. Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to eat good food and spend time with good company. Dinner starts cooking the day before and football plays on the television while families gather and reminisce about seasons past.
Once dinner has been eaten, it is time to throw a football around the back yard, eat some pumpkin pie, and enjoy a warm drink on a cool day. No early black Friday shopping here, Thanksgiving encompasses the entire day and no sale can pull someone here away from family time.
Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving Getaway
Maybe cooking isn’t your thing, but you still want to spend Thanksgiving enjoying a lovely time with your family. You can share an unforgettable Thanksgiving in the Northwoods at the Gunflint Lodge. Rent a cabin and spend the day in the woods looking for Moose and Deer, play board games in front of the fire, and eat your fill at the Thanksgiving Buffet.
Spend Some Time Volunteering
If you want to spread some love on Thanksgiving in Minnesota, then you may want to check out some of the many volunteer opportunities available. Open Arms of Minnesota has put together a wonderfully detailed list of all of the places you can volunteer this Holiday season.
These opportunities aren’t just available on Thanksgiving. There are so many organizations in need of helps throughout the entire Holiday season. So get out there and help if you can, it is the Minnesota way!
